TV remote and planet symbol floor puzzle

The answer in one line

Get the Glove, use it on the kitchen breaker to free Battery 1 from the washer, take Battery 2 from behind the shower curtain, put both in the TV remote, then step on the floor tiles in the same order your TV flashes the planet symbols (the order changes every run).

Where the puzzle is

The symbol floor is in the 2nd-floor apartment: the same planet symbols the TV flashes are painted on floor tiles around the room. Solving it opens the door to the right of the TV.

The order of the symbols is random, so a sequence copied from a video or another guide will not work for you. See the section below on reading your own TV.

Going for Ending 3 (VIVUS EX MORTIBUS)? Solving this puzzle takes the Bible away (the game shows “YOU'VE LOST BIBLE”). Do the Bible step in this room first: use the Bible, start on the Mars (♂) tile and run counterclockwise around the symbols 6 times, win the fight and you get Iron Cross 1. Details are on the endings page.

What you need

  • Glove: clothes rack in the 2nd-floor office
  • Battery 1: inside the washer in the 2nd-floor kitchen, after you switch off the breaker with the Glove
  • Battery 2: 2nd-floor bathroom, behind the shower curtain
  • TV Remote: in the 3rd-floor office

Step by step

  1. Take the Glove from the office clothes rack

    In the 2nd-floor office, inspect the clothes rack. Julia pockets a Glove.

  2. Switch off the kitchen breaker and get Battery 1

    Use the Glove on the circuit breaker in the 2nd-floor kitchen. The washer stops running and you can take a Battery out of it.

  3. Take Battery 2 from the bathroom

    The second Battery is behind the shower curtain in the 2nd-floor bathroom.

  4. Put both Batteries in the TV Remote

    Go up to the 3rd-floor office and use the two Batteries on the TV Remote.

  5. Watch the TV and repeat the symbols on the floor

    Back in the 2nd-floor apartment, the TV shows planet symbols one after another. Walk onto the matching floor tiles in that order without dawdling. When the order is right, the door right of the TV opens.

How to read your own clue

Where it appears. Once the TV Remote has both Batteries, the TV in the 2nd-floor apartment flashes a series of planet symbols, one at a time. The same symbols are painted on tiles on the floor of that room.

What it looks like. Each symbol is one of the classic planet signs. If you are not sure which is which, this list helps you name them while you write the order down (which of them your room uses is not something we have confirmed for every run):

How to turn it into the input. Write the symbols down in the order the TV shows them. Then walk onto the tile with the first symbol, then the second, and so on. Don’t stop between tiles for long; the game expects the sequence at a reasonable pace.

How to know it worked. The door to the right of the TV opens. If you still have the Bible, you also get the “YOU’VE LOST BIBLE” message at this point.

The order is different from run to run (X-Rey flags this puzzle as randomized), so the sequence you see in iampanax’s video is only an example; yours will differ.

Ending 3: do the Bible step first

If you are on the route to Ending 3, VIVUS EX MORTIBUS, this room hides the first Iron Cross, and you can only get it while you still carry the Bible. According to iampanax’s endings guide, the route needs Endings 1 and 2 already cleared and a new game, in which you pick up the Bible from the table in the ground-floor lobby.

  1. Before touching the TV puzzle, use the Bible in the 2nd-floor apartment.
  2. Stand on the Mars (♂) tile and run counterclockwise around the ring of symbols 6 times.
  3. A fight starts. Win it to receive Iron Cross 1.
  4. Now solve the TV puzzle as above.

If it doesn’t work

The washer won't give me the Battery.
It only stops after you use the Glove on the breaker in the kitchen. Get the Glove from the office clothes rack first.
I stepped on the tiles but the door stays shut.
Your order is different from any guide's, so copy your own TV, not a video. The tiles also have to be stepped on fairly quickly; if you hesitated, watch the TV again and redo it.
I lost the Bible and now can't get Iron Cross 1.
Solving this puzzle removes the Bible. For Ending 3 you need to load a save from before you solved it, or start a new game and do the Bible run (start on Mars, counterclockwise, 6 laps) first.
